The route leaves the island and works south to the ksour above Tataouine, where the stacked granary cells stand on the ridge lines, then drops off the tarmac onto desert track for the approach to Ksar Ghilane. That last stretch is the part a coach cannot do, and it is why the vehicle matters here more than on the road tours.

At the oasis there is the warm spring, the palms, and time to swim before lunch. A full menu lunch is included, as is the guide, and the operator's own framing of the day is a Star Wars route — the ksour around Tataouine are the country the saga was shot in, and Ksar Hadada is the confirmed set among them.
